About Kate
I help people find words for how they're designed.
I'm a career and strengths coach based in the Twin Cities, and I believe each of us carries a God-given design that shows up in how we think, work, and lead. My job is to help you see yours clearly, then put it to work in the life and work in front of you.
How I got here
My first job in this field was in 2001 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison's Career Exploration Center, sitting across the table from college students trying to figure out what came next. I went on to academic advising and school counseling, and in 2006 I took StrengthsFinder for the first time. I've been fascinated ever since by what happens when people finally have language for the way they're wired.
Then I spent 17 years at home with our five boys, homeschooling them along the way. Those years taught me as much about people as any job ever has. I kept a hand in this work the whole time, coaching teens and teams, and starting in 2015, walking alongside families as a Career Direct consultant.
When that season wrapped up, I founded Métier Lab LLC to give this work a home. Assessment Lady serves students and families, and here I offer strengths-based coaching for adults and workshops for teams.

Know your design. Design your work.
You were made on purpose
Your strengths aren't random. They're part of a God-given design, and understanding it changes how you see your work and yourself.
Words make it usable
Assessments are a mirror. The shift comes when you can name what you see and explain it to yourself and the people you work with.
Then you shape the work
You don't always need a new job. Often it's about crafting the one you have so more of your day draws on what you do best.
